The 3rd Turkish Olympiad Southeastern US was held in Ferst Center for the Arts at Georgia Tech in Atlanta Georgia by the Istanbul Center on Saturday, March 19, 2010.The winners of singing, poetry recitation, general knowledge and proficiency in Turkish Language and Writing category will represent Southern U.S. at the 8th World Turkish Olympiads in Turkey.

Istanbul Center is a unit of Global Spectrum Foundation, Inc., is a 501(c)3 non-profit, non-governmental and non-partisan organization that was established in 2002. It promotes better understanding and closer relations between individuals and communities, building bridges between the Turkish, American and other communities in Atlanta and the Southeastern United States.

Turkish is key for accessing Turkic languages spoken by tens of millions of people in the Near East, the former soviet Union, China, and Balkans. It is one of the 10 critical languages identified by the US Government. Turkish is one of the most widely-spoken language in the world. More than 200 million people speak Turkish.

Turkish is the only language with its own olympiad! In 2009, almost 700 Turkish language students from 115 different countries attended the Turkish olympiad in Istanbul.

Turkey has a very rich history, the earliest human civilizations, the beginnings of Christianity, and the height of Islamic civilization. Turkey is an open-air museum with historical remnants such as Ephesus, Halicarnassus, Noah's Ark, and city of Troy coveted by archeologists to explore.
